Denver & Rio Grande Western Caboose Lamps

In keeping with the narrow gauge details I couldn’t help but go down the D&RGW rabbit hole a little. This wonderful lamp was the product of the railroad’s Burnham shops near Denver, Colorado. It was used not only for task lighting in the caboose, but for desk lighting in stations along the road and as cab lighting in locomotives. Different cast iron brackets supported various applications, however the lamp remained a simple and plain solution when light was needed.

The 2.5″ scale model of this lamp is now available. I am also planning several variations, including an optional borosilicate glass chimney for high heat locations. The chimney also inspired me to create a true oil burning version of the lamp which we are testing at this time.

Our current offering is similar to my other lamps which feature frosted acrylic chimneys and LED flame effect lighting. The LEDs are pre-wired for 12V. and include the flicker effect. The kit is made of 3D printed sintered stainless steel; investment cast solid brass; and 3D printed acrylic. Detailed instructions are included.
